The Perfect Recipe For Hair Volume
August 7, 2009
Are you looking for a sexy hairstyle that looks similar to what the supermodels wear? If you have been looking in fashion magazines, you will notice more of the supermodels are wearing their hairstyles with some extra added volume. The only hair styling tools that are needed to create some sexy volume is a teasing brush and hairspray. Yes, that is all there is to it.
The first thing you want to do is to make sure that your hair is dry and smooth. Then by taking the hair at the crown of your head, tease your hair to create height. Next tease the sides as well as the center. By teasing these areas you won’t look like you have a cone on your head.
Use an extra-fine hairspray. Once you know that the hairspray has set, use your hands to scrunch up the ends of your hair so that you have that messy look. Now pick something out of your wardrobe that makes you feel like a supermodel and you are ready for a night out on the town.
Keeping Those Bangs Straight
August 6, 2009
Many of us today are wearing hairstyles with bangs. In fact, the “bob” that has been popular for the last year or so has become even more popular with bangs. Many of the celebrities are wearing the “bob” style with bangs and they look fantastic!!
If you already have straight hair and have bangs, it is usually very easy to style your hair and go. However, there are those of us who have curly hair, wavy hair, or that piece of hair that no matter what you do by trying to use gel, hair spray and blow drying it with a styling brush, cannot get the bangs to lay straight. So, what can those of us who fit in that category do?
Well, thank goodness that some of the professional hair styling tool companies have created the mini flat iron. Most mini flat irons have 3/8″ to 1/2″ plates. These size flat irons are ideal for using on bangs and other short hairs that are along the curve of your face. These smaller plate flat irons are great to use because there is far less chance of burning your face or scalp, which happens when you try to use the standard 1″ flat iron or larger. The process for straightening these hairs is the same as is with the larger plate flat irons. Using these smaller plate flat irons produces a more finished look and you can feel much better about your style as you are walking out the door.
Creating Wide Waves With a Curling Iron
August 4, 2009
For those of us who have hair that is at least 6 to 8 inches long, creating a style with wide waves can easily be accomplished by using a curling iron.
EASY STEPS TO FOLLOW TO CREATE WIDE WAVES:
1) Pick up a section of your hair and place the curling iron under it close to the scalp, making half a turn downward. (Be careful not to touch your scalp)
2) Remove the curling iron.
3) Working with the same section of hair, start where you left off and place the curling iron on top of the hair, curling it up half a turn.
4) Proceed down the same hair section, alternating the curl upward and downward.
5) Repeat the procedure with the remaining sections of your hair.
Using professional curling irons are your best bet when styling your hair. The more temperature settings that a typical professional curling iron has to offer gives you the flexibility you need to adapt to your particular hair type, as well as to the style that you are going for. Professional curling irons come in all sizes and price ranges so if you don’t already have one, you can easily find one by searching on the internet.
Keep Those Curls Intact
August 3, 2009
For women with permed or naturally curly hair, the drying process can be a nightmare. A haphazard hair-drying job often results in stringy, gnarled locks rather than the lustrous curls ladies desire. A hot sock diffuser helps to solve this problem by distributing heat evenly around the head and eliminating hot, harmful concentrations. By following a few simple steps, you can dry your hair without the fuss in just a few minutes.
Apply the diffuser to the end of the unit, then begin by drying in a circular motion at the roots. You should keep the dryer’s power on low or medium and continue moving the dryer in the same direction. Keep the dryer at a 90-degree angle to add more volume to your hair. You should dry the ends last and then complete the process by blasting a cool shot of air through your hair.
Traveling Internationally With a Curling Iron
August 3, 2009
If you are planning to travel internationally and taking a curling iron is a must, you need to be prepared for the fact that plugging in your curling iron in the United States and plugging in your curling iron abroad is just not the same. And, if you don’t want to short out your curling iron or even blow out a fuse where you are staying, the following precautions should be taken.
When traveling outside of the United States, it is important to find out what electrical voltage is used in the country where you are traveling and what type of adaptor or plug is needed to plug your appliances into the outlet. Most electrical appliances made for use in the United States work at 115 volts. While most of North and South America, the Caribbean, and Japan also use 110-voltage electricity, most countries in Europe and other parts of the world have 220-volt electrical outlets.
So……what about curling irons? Well, when shopping for a curling iron to take abroad, you need to be looking for dual voltage curling irons. There are several in the marketplace to choose from. Once you have bought the iron, you will find that either the curling iron will automatically adjust to the proper voltage or there will be an identifiable button or lever on the appliance that you will adjust. It is extremely important that you read the instructions provided with the curling iron with regard to using the dual voltage feature. Most dual voltage curling irons will require an adapter plug that is not included with the iron. The adapter plugs can be found at any travel and luggage store, and also sometimes at Radio Shack.
Shopping For an Affordable Professional Hairdryer
August 1, 2009
In today’s economy, every dollar counts. While many of us are having to cut back on the luxury items, there are still those items that are must haves. Hair styling appliances have pretty much become a necessity in most households. Whether we are female or male, most of the hairstyles that we are wearing today require that our hair be dried with a hairdryer.
So many of you are asking the question, what is wrong with just going to the local discount store to purchase an inexpensive dryer? Well, if you are accustomed to using a professional dryer, you will quickly find out that the inexpensive consumer grade hairdryer just doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that you are accustomed to having. You will also find many are heavy to handle, are extremely noisy, and for whatever reason just don’t do the job.
Ok, now that we have established that we need to bypass the non-professional model hairdryers, the question remains, how can we afford a professional model when we are trying to stick within a budget, or our funds are just not as plentiful.
There are many inexpensive models of professional hairdryers in the marketplace. All one needs to do is type in discount professional hairdryers in their web browser and you will find a multitude of online stores that can accomodate you. Many websites will also provide you with all of the features of the product and often you will find how that particular dryer has been rated by the consumer. The other most important tool that you want to be looking for on a hairdryer website is whether or not there is a search option for hairdryers in price ranges. This option will very quickly narrow down your selection of what you can afford.
Once you have found the price range that you can afford, you can then read the consumer’s feedback. After you have decided on a hairdryer that appears to meet your criteria, you will then want to type in a new browser window the exact hairdryer you are looking for to see where you can find it for the lowest price.
When shopping for the professional hairdryer, be sure to read all of the website’s shipping information and return policies. In the unfortunate event that the dryer you select is not meeting your expectations, you want to be sure that the cost to return the dryer and to order a replacement, is still cost effective.
