Taming Unkempt Hair
November 11, 2009
When I was going to college I had long, shoulder length hair that I had been growing for years. As a stereotypical male, I spent little time actually caring for my hair or selecting the proper haircare products. This obviously led to a tangled mess on my head that never looked too attractive.
One of my friends suggested that I start using conditioner, something that I had never considered necessary. As most people will surmise, this one addition to my daily routine greatly improved my unruly locks. Although you probably already utilize products on your hair, it is important to remember that the selections you make have a drastic impact on your appearance.
Brush Irons Are Still Around
November 10, 2009
I was going through the cupboard under my bathroom sink recently as it seemed to be getting more and more cluttered. When I finally reached the back of the cupboard I found an old brush iron tucked in the corner with the cord wrapped around it. It looked ancient and if I had to guess, it had to be at least 10 to 15 years old. In fact, when I looked at the manufacturer I didn’t even recognize the name. To satisfy my curiosity I plugged it in and I couldn’t believe that it still worked. Then I tried to remember why I stopped using it and that set me hunting on the internet to see if brush irons are still being sold.
Yes, brush irons still exist and one of the more popular brands being sold is made by Helen of Troy and Hot Tools. For those of you who have never tried one, let me tell you that this hair styling tool was a life saver for me. I never could get the hang of using the curling iron. For whatever reason I kept getting creases in my hair and finally gave up. I happened to be at a beauty supply store one day and was complaining to the sales clerk about my curling iron issues when she asked if I had ever tried a brush iron. She demonstrated the use of one and that was all she wrote. I was sold and used that appliance for years.
The nice thing about a brush iron is that after you dry your hair, you just curl each section of your hair around the brush iron just as you would if you were using a curling iron. The only difference for me was that I was ending up with the style I wanted and not a head full of creases. Brush irons are so easy to use and take no time at all. So…..if you are looking for something that is extremely affordable and easy to use, the brush iron may be just right for you. It comes in an assortment of sizes and they are so relatively inexpensive, you may just want to buy a couple in different sizes to use for different styles.
The Frizzy Hair Fix
November 9, 2009
How many of you have dry, frizzy unmanageable hair? If you go online and read up on all of the different products that are available for dealing with this , you could spend hours upon hours. If you have that kind of time that is great. What I found, however, is that more than 9 times out of 10, the hair product reviews resulted in CHI Keratin Mist as being one of the best products for solving the dry, frizzy and unmanageable hair problem.
CHI Keratin Mist, from the CHI haircare product family, is a leave-in strengthening treatment that you spray on wet hair before drying. This product not only protects your hair from the heat that is applied when drying your hair, or styling with a flat iron or curling iron, but it also leaves your hair silky and shiny. In fact, many individuals who let their hair air dry, as opposed to drying with a blow dryer, still use CHI Keratin Mist because once their hair has dried naturally, their hair is soft and the fly away hairs that are always a hindrance are easily managed.
To understand a little more about why CHI has chosen to put Keratin in their haircare product, you need to know exactly what Keratin is. Keratin is the dominant protein that is found in your hair, skin, and nails. When you add this protein topically to your hair, skin, and nails, it is known to prevent breakage and to strengthen.
CHI Keratin Mist is found online as well as in most beauty supply stores and other retail stores that sell hair care products.
Yes, There Are Flat Irons For Men
November 7, 2009
I was recently visiting a local mall and like I always do I check out the beauty stores and kiosks to make sure I am up-to-date on what is new. As I was standing next to this particular hair styling tool kiosk, a young man walked up and asked if they sold flat irons for men. The sales associate quickly responded, that in fact they did. Well this naturally raised my curiosity so I moved in closer.
The sales associate pointed out a small box which contained what appeared to be a mini flat iron. The particular flat iron that she had selected was made by Le Angelique and it had 1/2 inch plates. The young man seemed very interested as he was asking all of the right questions. He told the sales associate that his hair was naturally curly and after using his sister’s flat iron just to see if it would work on his shorter hair, he decided it would be worthwhile pursuing. Although his sister’s flat iron had wider plates, he wanted to see if there was one in the marketplace that was smaller in size since most of his hair was on the shorter side. After the sales associate and the young man chatted a little more, he bought the flat iron and was on his way.
It makes sense that guys need a change in their appearance just as much as us girls. The fact that a man has curly hair and doesn’t want it necessarily always kinking up, shouldn’t require him to keep his head shaved.
The Le Angelique Men’s Flat Iron heats up to 400 degrees, which is more than enough heat to straighten short hair. The ultra-light slim design of the iron makes it easy to handle and the ceramic tourmaline plates will protect the hair and keep it healthy. Way to go Le Angelique!!!
Fashion Statement Hair Straighteners
November 6, 2009
While many of us are always concerned with keeping our clothes up to date and wearing the latest fashions, it appears that hair styling appliances are now making a fashion statement.
It isn’t just the technology anymore that calls our attention to new items in the marketplace. If an item appears sleeker, shinier, or even more colorful, the consumer is attracted to it like bees are to honey. This isn’t a bad thing. In fact, it makes sense. Change is good and why not take advantage of the fact that many of us like to try something different.
So, what is out there in the hair appliance world that will catch the eye of the fashion conscious? Le Angelique hair straighteners have a wonderful assortment of animal prints, camouflage, and even a tattoo print for those who like a little style while their styling their hair. While Le Angelique offers the traditional black flat iron, they also have pink, lavendar, fuchsia, a zebra print, a tiger print, a gold leopard print, a white leopard print, and a red leopard print.
For those who don’t know anything about the Le Angelique hair straighteners, you really should check them out. They offer a 3/4″ turbo styler which has tourmaline plates. This iron is also dual voltage and can be taken internationally as long as you buy the adaptor for it. The 1 inch professional model comes with advanced ceramic heat technology. This tool also straightens, flips, and curls. The extra added bonus to purchasing a Le Angelique straightening iron is that they offer a lifetime warranty. Both flat irons are extremely affordable and available online.
Keeping Color Treated Hair Healthy
November 4, 2009
As most of us know, whenever we perm or color our hair, we are doing things to our hair that have the potential to be damaging. Since we’ve taken that step to perm or color our hair, we obviously care about the way we look. The next step in looking good is to make sure we keep our treated hair healthy.
There are many products in the marketplace that one can try to keep permed or color treated hair healthy, however, there are a couple of products that stand out from the rest. Have you ever tried CHI haircare products?
CHI haircare products by Farouk Systems, Inc., has developed a wonderful ionic color protector system that helps to keep color treated hair healthy, shiny, and as an added bonus it keeps the color more vibrant for a longer period of time.
You are probably asking what ionic technology has to do with haircare products. You see this terminology used with hair styling tools, but what does it do for you in haircare products? Actually, the ionic technology formula in these haircare products bonds to the damaged areas of the hair. This results in adding strength to the hair and resilience to the color. In addition to the ionic technology you will also find that Farouk has incorporated Sulfate Free technology into these products as well. What this means is that impurities are gently washed from the hair without disrupting the dye molecules. Lastly, CHI’s unique Colorfinity Complex is a blend of color protecting ingredients that preserves the hair color, keeping it rich, strong and vibrant.
The CHI Color Protector System consists of the shampoo, the conditioner, and the leave-in treatment masque. Each can be bought separately, and in some cases stores both online and off offer the three as a package.
