Back To The 80s

Author: StylinG October 10, 2008

Crimped hairIf you thought that crimpers were an ancient relic that never made it out of the 80s, you’re wrong. Crimped hair styles often show up on magazine models and Hollywood stars. Whether for a 80s party or for a big event crimped hair can make any girl stand out from the crowd. But don’t burn your hair off using a crimping iron with inexperienced technique. The following instructions allow you to get the hair style you want safely.

  1. Plug in and heat up your crimping iron.
  2. Make sure hair is completely dry and spritzed with hairspray. Separate one section of hair from your head to crimp and brush it through. Use small sections to get that distinct crimped look. Use larger sections for a soft and wavy effect.
  3. Situate the section of your hair between the crimping grates and hold the crimping iron close to your scalp.
  4. Hold the iron on the section of the hair for a few seconds, then release. Thicker hair should be pressed longer.
  5. Move the iron along the sections of the hair, crimping as you go. Do not crimp the very ends of the hair in order to prevent breakage.
  6. Repeat steps for other sections of the hair until complete, using a clip to hold the top layer of hair out of the way while crimping the bottom.
  7. Style hair with fingers or a hair pick. Use hairspray to hold the look in place.
